From the 14th until the 16th of June, 22 experts gathered in Sophia (Bulgaria) to discuss the visions resulting from the first CIVISTI citizen consultation that took place in Spring 2009. 




The experts in different fields like innovation, research and development, policy making,... used the citizen's visions as a starting point to formulate over 100 policy options for the European research and technology agenda within the 8th Framework programme. 30 of these were selected for further elaboration as they were considered the most essential and innovative. 




All experts present agreed that the CIVISTI approach, involving citizens in research agenda setting proved valuable and interesting. In the next step of the project, the citizen panels will be given the chance this Autumn to comment on the experts work and prioritize their recommendations.
